The Alien franchise appeared to have found a new steward on the big screen in Fede Álvarez, after he shepherded Alien: Romulus to widespread praise last year. Now, however, the next installment will have to search for another sci-fi horror visionary.

The Academy Award honoree recently revealed that he’s “rewriting the next Alien film,” which will serve as a long-awaited conclusion to his prequel trilogy that also includes Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), with Michael Fassbender ‘s Walter One returning.
